action concept is already filming on the FTL

This well-known film and stunt production company, headquartered in Hürth, Germany, is filming the new season of "Alarm for Cobra 11 – The Autobahn Police" at the FTL.

Eighty-five people go to work to produce the perfect setting for the scene the screenplay calls for. The driver of a delivery van swerves, crashes into a tanker and causes a huge explosion. Following cars are then flung through the resulting wall of fire.

The van is catapulted over the tanker with the help of a remote-controlled cannon, and more than 40 litres of petrol ensure a big-screen explosion. A professional stunt man drives the highway patrol car into the fire.

Twelve cameras record the scene, including a helicopter camera and special impact- and heat-proof “crash boxes” positioned very close to the explosion. With the help of these camera angles and slow-motion, action fans can enjoy every possible view of the crash – in real time, it all lasts no longer than 10 seconds.

Hermann Joha, managing director of action concept, says: “The FTL is perfect for the kind of scenes we shoot, because it enables us to be even more creative in creating action stunts for all the productions we are involved in. Besides that, it relieves our teams of some of the tremendous time pressure they are under when we work on public roads.”
